Hanhart – Reputable Timekeeping Technology

In 1882 Robert Koch discovered the tuberculosis bacillus, Franklin D. Roosevelt was born, and the Bayreuth Festival House saw Richard Wagner premiere Parsifal. The same year in the little Black Forest town of Gutenbach, a company entered the horological scene that was to develop into a reputable specialist for timekeeping technology.

125th Anniversary of Hanhart

Hanhart celebrated 125 years of existence in 2007 and a corresponding anniversary watch edition along the topic of in memoriam font/set origins (Latin for thinking about the source and origin). The origin referred to is in the 1920s when stop- watches were introduced to the Gütenbach-based company laying the cornerstone for a leading worldwide reputation in short-term time measurement. Then in the late 1930s, Hanhart began manufacturing pilot’s chronographs, the aesthetic style of which is mirrored in diverse replicas and new models of the present day. Thus, it is no wonder that Hanhart is presenting a series of limited edition watches that stylistically and qualitatively represents all the values for which the brand stands in honor of its 125th anniversary.

Opus 41 – The Flagship of Hanhart

The flagship of the Hanhart collection, the platinum Opus 41, was developed especially for the anniversary to underscore the brand’s competence in the art of high-quality watch-making. This manually wound chronograph unites the historical origins of the brand with stylistic developments reaching to the modern era with heady aesthetic and mechanical value. It’s not only the attractive design with a solid, two-tone silver dial in sunray guillocht and the precious platinum case that makes this chronograph interesting. Inside a case featuring characteristic asymmetrical distances between the buttons there ticks an original Hanhart column-wheel movement, Caliber 41 from the 1950s. The limited quantity of the rare chronograph movement alone will make the watch—restricted to a mere thirty-nine pieces— advance as a favorite among connoisseurs.

Hanhart Introduces Tachymaster in 2008

The year 2008 was also an exciting one for this stopwatch specialist. Together with Häffner, the world-famous jeweler located in Stuttgart, Hanhart introduced its new Tachymaster, created especially for calculating average speeds at old-timer rallies, something that often occupies vintage car aficionados. At this point in time, the company is working on a completely new collection that will hit retail shops in 2009. And in the future, a new branch of the company—Hanhart AG located in Diessenhofen, Switzerland—will continue to expand the international goals of this traditional brand.
